U.S. and Russian officials, led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, held diplomatic talks in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, discussing terms for a peace agreement in Ukraine and a potential meeting between President Donald Trump and President Vladimir Putin.

They proposed a ceasefire, elections in Ukraine, and a peace agreement, though reports suggest that forced elections could be a key part of the deal.

Ukrainian President Zelenskyy opposed this idea, stressing that Ukraine should be involved in any peace negotiations, Fox News has reported.

The talks excluded Ukrainian and European representatives, with some European allies, like the U.K., considering military involvement to secure Ukraine.
