Two planes collide at Arizona airport leaving at least 2 dead

Two single-engine planes collided midair at Marana Regional Airport on Wednesday morning around 8:30 a.m.

The crash involved a Lancair 3600 and a Cessna 172.

Two people aboard the Lancair were killed, while the two in the Cessna were uninjured.

The NTSB and FAA are investigating the incident, which will include examining wreckage, seeking witnesses, and analyzing radar data.

The Lancair, a high-performance kit plane made of composite materials, is typically flown by experienced pilots, KGUN 9 has reported.

The Marana Airport expressed condolences, and the investigation is expected to take several months.
