Judge extends block on DOGE’s access to federal payment systems

A federal judge extended an order barring Elon Musk’s DOGE team from accessing Treasury payment systems, ruling that the Trump administration’s rushed and flawed process likely violated the law.

Judge Jeannette Vargas found that Treasury’s chaotic approach posed a risk of financial data leaks and failed to properly vet DOGE employees.

The ruling allows Treasury to seek changes but requires a report by March 24 on training, vetting, and data protection, Politico has reported.

Democrats see the move as political interference, while Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent defends it as a necessary reform.
