President Trump clashed with Maine Gov. Janet Mills at a White House event over his executive order banning transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports.

Trump threatened to withhold federal funding from Maine if the state doesn’t comply with the order, to which Mills responded she would follow state and federal laws and take legal action if necessary.

After the event, Mills emphasized that Maine would not be intimidated by the threat, ABC News has reported.

Meanwhile, the Department of Education launched an investigation into Maine schools for allegedly allowing male athletes to compete in girls’ sports.
