Christopher Sepulvado, an 81-year-old Louisiana death row inmate convicted of brutally killing his 6-year-old stepson, died of natural causes Sunday, a month before his scheduled execution by nitrogen gas.
Sepulvado, who recently had a leg amputated due to gangrene, would have been the first person executed in Louisiana in 15 years.
His attorney called the planned execution “barbaric,” the New York Post has reported.
