French fugitive Mohamed Amra, who staged a deadly prison escape in May 2023, was arrested in Romania, along with 10 alleged accomplices.
Amra, 30, fled after being sentenced for burglary and was under investigation for violent crimes linked to Marseille’s organized crime.
His escape, which killed two guards, led to an international manhunt. Nicknamed “La Mouche” (The Fly), Amra was suspected of running drug operations from prison.
French President Emmanuel Macron called his capture a “formidable success,” CBS News has reported.
Authorities had deployed over 300 investigators to track him down.
