Video shows Italian fighter jets escorting American Airlines flight to Rome amid ‘security concern’

An American Airlines flight from New York to New Delhi was diverted to Rome due to a security concern, later deemed non-credible.

Dramatic footage showed Italian fighter jets escorting the plane before it landed safely at Leonardo da Vinci International Airport.

The aircraft, carrying nearly 200 passengers and 15 crew, was inspected and cleared by law enforcement.

The flight remained in Rome overnight for crew rest before continuing to Delhi, Fox News has reported.

The incident follows a string of recent aviation disasters in the U.S., including a deadly midair collision and a fiery Delta Air Lines landing in Toronto.
