Meet Concert, the robot that wants to revolutionize construction

The U.S. construction industry is facing a severe labor shortage, with a need for half a million workers in 2025. To address this, states have implemented apprenticeship programs, while some companies are turning to robots to perform dangerous or repetitive tasks.

A standout innovation is “Concert,” a modular construction robot developed by the Italian Institute of Technology.

Able to perform tasks like drilling, insulation spraying, and heavy material transport, Concert is designed to adapt to different scenarios and environments.

Though it faced challenges during testing, such as temperature sensitivity and usability issues, it could revolutionize construction by complementing human workers rather than replacing them, Fast Company has reported.

The team hopes to bring Concert to market in 2-3 years.
