North Carolina substitute teacher charged in ATV crash that killed 2 high school football players

A North Carolina substitute teacher, Ashley Marie Darity, 34, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in the ATV crash that killed two Rosman High School football players, Layne Jones and Jayden Reynaldo, in August 2024.

Authorities say speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.

Darity was released on a $20,000 bond, and two others, Brandon Rathbone and Patricia Whitehead, were also arrested for providing alcohol to minors, NBC News has reported.

The investigation is ongoing.
