Gene Hackman, wife Betsy Arakawa and their dog were dead for some time, warrant shows

Oscar-winning actor Gene Hackman, 95, and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, 65, were found dead in their Santa Fe, New Mexico, home, along with one of their dogs.

A maintenance worker discovered their bodies on Wednesday.

Authorities found no signs of foul play, carbon monoxide poisoning, or a gas leak, though they deemed the deaths “suspicious enough” for further investigation.

Hackman was found in the entryway, while Arakawa was in the bathroom near a fallen space heater.

Autopsies and toxicology tests are pending. Two other dogs were found alive on the property, the Associated Press has reported.

Authorities plan to release more details soon.
