Crews battle wildfires in North and South Carolina

Fire crews battled wildfires in North and South Carolina as dry conditions and strong winds fueled the blazes.

South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster declared a state of emergency, and evacuations were ordered near Myrtle Beach, where a fire burned 1.9 square miles with no containment.

In North Carolina, multiple fires burned over 400 acres, with the largest at Uwharrie National Forest.

Residents in Tryon were urged to evacuate as a fire spread to 400 acres, the Associated Press has reported.

Officials have not determined the cause of the fires.
