FedEx flight catches fire after colliding with bird during takeoff from Newark airport

A FedEx cargo plane from Newark to Indianapolis struck a bird during takeoff Saturday, damaging one of its engines and forcing an emergency landing back at Newark Liberty International Airport.

Videos on X showed the Boeing 767’s engine on fire mid-air. The three crew members onboard were unharmed.

Witnesses saw debris falling from the plane, and emergency responders were on-site after landing.

Aviation experts noted the aircraft was capable of flying on one engine, NBC News has reported.

The FAA and NTSB are investigating.
