Woman bitten by alligator in Florida

A woman was bitten on the elbow by an alligator while paddling at Tiger Creek Preserve in Polk County, Florida, on Monday.

The incident occurred as she was boating in the area, which is about 65 miles south of Orlando.

The woman was taken to a hospital in an unknown condition for treatment.

A trapper was dispatched to remove the alligator from the scene.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission stated that serious injuries from alligators are rare in the state, ABC News has reported.

To stay safe, the commission advises swimming only in designated areas during the day and keeping pets on a leash and away from the water’s edge.
