A 27-year-old armed man was shot by U.S. Secret Service near the White House on Sunday morning after brandishing a firearm.
Authorities had received a warning from Indiana police about a potentially suicidal individual traveling to D.C.
Officers confronted the man near the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, where he ignored commands, pointed the gun at himself, then turned it toward agents, prompting them to open fire.
He was hospitalized in unknown condition.
A rifle was found in his car. The D.C. Metropolitan Police are investigating the incident, CNN has reported.
President Trump was not at the White House at the time.
