3 killed in medical helicopter crash in Mississippi

A medical helicopter crashed in Madison County, Mississippi, killing all three crew members—two UMMC employees and a Med-Trans pilot.

The aircraft, which had no patients aboard, took off from St. Dominic Hospital at 12:09 p.m. and disappeared from radar 27 minutes later.

The crash occurred in a heavily wooded area near the Natchez Trace, prompting road closures.

The cause remains unknown, and the FAA is investigating, KY3 has reported.

Governor Tate Reeves called it a tragic reminder of the risks first responders face.
