Los Angeles County DA opposes resentencing request for Menendez brothers

Los Angeles County DA Nathan Hochman opposes Erik and Lyle Menendez’s bid for release, calling their self-defense claim a decades-long lie.

He moved to withdraw a resentencing motion filed by his predecessor, George Gascón, who supported parole eligibility.

Hochman argues the killings were premeditated and that the brothers have not fully accepted responsibility.

This reversal threatens their March 20 resentencing hearing, CNN has reported.

The Menendez brothers, serving life without parole, have pursued clemency, resentencing, and a new trial, citing new abuse evidence—claims Hochman rejects as unsubstantiated.
