Jack Teixeira, a Massachusetts Air National Guard member convicted of leaking classified documents about the war in Ukraine, defended his actions during his court-martial, calling himself a “proud patriot” who wanted to expose what he saw as the Biden administration’s lies.
He acknowledged his actions were illegal but believed sharing the truth could save lives.
Teixeira, who was sentenced to 15 years in prison, likened his situation to that of Donald Trump, claiming victimization by the Justice Department.
The leaked documents revealed sensitive military assessments and plans, causing diplomatic and military fallout, Fox News has reported.
Teixeira’s lawyers cited his isolated, online lifestyle as a factor in his actions.
