Judge blocks Trump administration from implementing Alien Enemies Act

A federal judge temporarily blocked the Trump administration from using the Alien Enemies Act to deport Venezuelan immigrants presumed to be part of the Tren de Aragua gang.

U.S. District Judge James Boasberg halted deportations for 14 days, citing irreparable harm.

Some detained Venezuelans were already on repatriation flights, but Boasberg ordered any planes carrying them to return.

Meanwhile, the White House reported that nearly 300 gang members were arrested and deported to El Salvador, The Hill has reported.

Press secretary Karoline Leavitt emphasized Trump’s commitment to national security.
