Minnesota Governor Tim Walz criticized Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer for supporting a Republican-backed stopgap funding bill to avoid a government shutdown.

Walz argued that Democrats gave up leverage and will now be blamed for any fallout from the bill.

He also expressed disappointment with the Democratic Party’s lack of coordination on the issue, reinforcing perceptions of fragmentation, Politico has reported.

His comments, made during an interview on California Governor Gavin Newsom’s podcast, reflect growing Democratic backlash against Schumer’s decision.
