A U.S. judge has blocked the Trump administration from deporting Badar Khan Suri, an Indian academic at Georgetown University, after the Department of Homeland Security accused him of ties to Hamas.
Suri, who was detained by masked agents and moved to multiple facilities, filed an emergency petition to stop his deportation.
His attorneys argue he was targeted for his political views, while officials claim he spread Hamas propaganda, The Guardian has reported.
The ruling prevents his removal until further court action.
