Starmer warns Putin of ‘severe consequences’ if he breaches peace deal

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer warned Russian President Vladimir Putin of “severe consequences” if he breaches a peace deal with Ukraine.

Starmer made this statement after meeting with officials from 31 countries at the Northwood military base, where they discussed plans for Western forces to support Ukraine.

He emphasized that Ukraine must decide its own defense capabilities and that Putin’s demand for Ukraine’s demilitarization would not be accepted.

While Starmer did not commit to sending British ground troops, he highlighted plans for air, sea, and land support to reinforce Ukrainian forces, The Guardian has reported.

Starmer also stressed the importance of security arrangements to deter Russian aggression, especially if peace talks lead to a ceasefire.
