Speaker Mike Johnson told House Republicans on Tuesday that they will not pursue impeaching federal judges, emphasizing that Congress has only done so 15 times in history.
Instead, the House Judiciary Committee will lead hearings on judicial overreach, with a vote upcoming on a bill from Rep. Darrell Issa to limit nationwide injunctions.
While some conservatives, including Donald Trump, favor impeachments, House Republicans currently lack the votes, Politico has reported.
Johnson will meet with Judiciary Committee members later in the day to discuss the issue further.
