Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen expressed discontent over the tone of Vance’s comments, emphasizing that such criticism is not how close allies should communicate.

Vance had claimed Denmark under-invested in Greenland’s people and security, a view echoed by former President Trump, who argued the US needs Greenland for global security.

Denmark and Greenland rejected these claims, with Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen highlighting Denmark’s longstanding support for the US.

Greenlanders oppose US annexation, with a recent poll showing strong opposition to such moves, France 24 has reported.

The Pituffik Space Base, a key US defense asset, remains central to these tensions.
