Trump reveals why he pulled Stefanik’s UN ambassador nomination: ‘Cannot take a chance’

President Donald Trump withdrew Rep. Elise Stefanik’s nomination for U.N. ambassador, citing concerns about the slim Republican majority in the House and the importance of maintaining it.

Trump explained that he didn’t want to risk losing her congressional seat, especially with upcoming special elections in Florida that could affect the GOP’s control of the House.

Trump praised Stefanik for her strong polling and popularity in her district, noting that her continued presence in Congress was crucial.

He added that she had agreed to stay in Congress to avoid any political risks, Fox News has reported.

The decision came amid concerns over fundraising and competitiveness in the Florida races.
