Thailand probes earthquake toppling of Bangkok high-rise, official sees “something suspicious”

A 30-story skyscraper under construction in Bangkok collapsed during a 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar, killing at least 19 people and leaving 77 missing.

It was the only tower in the city to fail, prompting an urgent investigation into potential design flaws, poor materials, or inspection failures.

Authorities, including Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, have questioned why this building alone collapsed.

Experts are testing steel reinforcement bars, and officials seized documents from contractors, CBS News has reported.

Rescue efforts continue, but hopes of finding survivors are fading.
