Trump ‘cannot annex another country’ says Danish leader as she visits Greenland

Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen is concluding a three-day visit to Greenland, where she responded to U.S. President Trump’s desire for control of the strategically important island.

Frederiksen firmly rejected the idea, stating, “you cannot annex another country,” even for security reasons.

She defended Denmark’s investments in the Arctic and its role as a reliable NATO ally, emphasizing that the U.S. should work together with Denmark to strengthen Arctic security rather than demand control over Greenland, NBC News has reported.

This visit comes amid tensions over U.S. criticism of Denmark’s investment in Greenland, which has led to increased political unrest in both Greenland and Denmark.
