The International Criminal Court (ICC) sent a confidential request to Hungary to arrest and surrender Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his visit last week, following a 2024 arrest warrant for alleged war crimes in Gaza.
Hungary refused and soon after announced its withdrawal from the ICC.
The charges, approved by the court in November 2024, accuse Netanyahu of targeting civilians and using starvation as a weapon during the war with Hamas, The Times of Israel has reported.
Israel has denied the allegations, citing efforts to provide humanitarian aid.
