Ohio high school staffer accused of trying to hire student to kill her husband

Stephanie Demetrius, a 44-year-old staff member at Academy for Urban Scholars in Columbus, Ohio, has been charged with felony conspiracy after allegedly attempting to hire a student to kill her husband for $2,000.

On March 26, she gave the student a $250 down payment and provided details about her husband’s schedule.

The student’s mother found the messages and contacted the police.

Demetrius was arrested and fired from the school, which is cooperating with authorities.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 11, NBC News has reported.

The student, who is not facing charges, is receiving counseling.
