Trump says he’s raising China tariffs further, pausing reciprocal tariffs for others

The U.S.-China tariff conflict escalated as President Trump announced a 125% tariff on Chinese goods, citing Beijing’s “lack of respect” for America, while pausing reciprocal tariffs on other countries.

Trump claimed over 75 countries have called to negotiate trade issues, but emphasized China’s opposition.

This follows China raising its tariff on U.S. goods from 34% to 84%, in response to Trump’s 104% tariff on Chinese imports.

Trump also imposed tariffs on the EU (20%), Japan (24%), and South Korea (25%), Fox Business has reported.

The EU retaliated with $23 billion in tariffs on U.S. goods but remained open to negotiations.
