Karmelo Anthony’s family speaks publicly after Frisco track meet stabbing

For the first time since 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony was charged with the fatal stabbing of fellow student Austin Metcalf at a Frisco track meet, his family spoke publicly.

At an emotional news conference, Anthony’s mother, Kayla Hayes, defended her family against threats, harassment, and misinformation, saying they’ve been unfairly targeted since her son’s arrest.

She emphasized their belief in the legal process and denied claims of misusing public donations.

The event drew tension when Austin Metcalf’s father showed up and was asked to leave by police, Fox 4 has reported.

The case has gained national attention, prompting increased courthouse security.
