The U.S. Army has suspended Col. Sheyla Baez Ramirez, the first female commander of Fort McCoy in Wisconsin, after portraits of Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth were found turned to face a wall.
The Army stated the suspension is not due to misconduct but did not provide further details as the matter is under review.
Baez Ramirez, who took command in July 2024, has a long military career with multiple commendations and leadership roles, The Guardian has reported.
The incident gained attention after the Department of Defense posted photos of the flipped portraits.
