Apple has issued new warnings to iPhone users in 100 countries, alerting them to targeted spyware attacks.
Among those notified were Italian journalist Ciro Pellegrino and Dutch political commentator Eva Vlaardingerbroek.
The alerts, part of Apple’s ongoing effort to combat “mercenary spyware attacks,” suggest users were targeted due to their identity or work.
While Apple hasn’t named the perpetrators, similar past attacks were linked to Israel-based Paragon Solutions, Mashable has reported.
The full scope of the spyware campaign remains unclear.
