Wisconsin high court suspends Milwaukee judge accused of helping man evade immigration authorities

The Wisconsin Supreme Court suspended Milwaukee County Judge Hannah Dugan after she was federally charged with helping a man evade ICE agents.

Dugan allegedly led the man, who had reentered the U.S. illegally, and his lawyer through a restricted court area to avoid arrest.

The court acted on its own to protect public confidence, and a reserve judge is now filling in.

Dugan’s legal team denies the charges, calling the court’s action disappointing, the Associated Press has reported.

Her arraignment is scheduled for May 15.
