Senators, including Ted Cruz and Mike Rounds, praised Waltz’s work but acknowledged the president’s authority in team decisions.

Waltz reportedly invited a journalist to a chat where national security details were shared, leading to his resignation, The Hill has reported.

Senators like John Cornyn emphasized the importance of replacing Waltz with someone who shares a strong stance on China.
