7 people are dead after a truck and tour van collided near Yellowstone

Seven people were killed and eight injured in a fiery crash between a pickup truck and a tour van carrying foreign tourists near Yellowstone National Park in eastern Idaho.

The van was traveling east and the truck west when they collided on U.S. Highway 20, both catching fire.

The victims include the truck driver and six passengers in the van, two of whom were from Italy.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, the Associated Press has reported.

Survivors were hospitalized, and officials noted the highway is heavily used and considered dangerous, with safety improvements still in planning stages.
