FAA Pledges Air-Traffic Fixes for Newark Airport

The FAA is working to overhaul its air-traffic control system following a deadly midair collision, frequent equipment failures, staffing shortages, and near-misses at U.S. airports.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy is expected to announce a major reform plan.

Newark Airport has faced delays due to runway work and staffing issues in Philadelphia, where controllers oversee Newark’s airspace.

United Airlines is cutting 35 daily flights through May 25, the Wall Street Journal has reported.

The FAA is upgrading technology, improving radar data connections, and training new controllers, but has not given a timeline for full implementation.
