Former Fox News host and longtime Trump ally Jeanine Pirro has been appointed interim U.S. Attorney for Washington, DC, after Trump’s original pick, Ed Martin, faced strong Republican opposition.

Trump praised Pirro’s legal and media career, while Martin will shift to a DOJ role overseeing the Weaponization Working Group.

Pirro is leaving Fox News immediately. Her broadcasts were part of Fox’s defamation lawsuits, though she denies wrongdoing, CNN has reported.

Martin’s nomination faltered due to concerns about his past media ties, controversial statements, and handling of January 6 cases.
