At least 48 Palestinians, including 22 children and 15 women, were killed in Israeli airstrikes on northern Gaza overnight, according to a local hospital.

The strikes hit homes in Jabalia town and refugee camp following rocket fire into Israel.

Meanwhile, a separate Israeli strike on the European Hospital in southern Gaza killed 28 people, allegedly targeting Hamas leader Mohammed Sinwar.

The UN’s humanitarian chief accused Israel of imposing inhumane conditions and called for action to prevent genocide.

Israel said the strikes targeted Hamas operatives, while ceasefire talks are set to continue in Qatar, the BBC has reported.

Over 52,900 people have died in Gaza since October 7, 2023.
