A pediatrician and mother of ten, Dr. Alaa al-Najjar, lost nine of her young children in an Israeli airstrike that struck their home near Khan Younis, Gaza, on Friday.
Her husband, also a doctor, and their sole surviving child were critically injured.
The strike was part of Israel’s ongoing war with Hamas, which has devastated Gaza, leaving over 53,000 Palestinians dead since October 2023.
Al-Najjar was at work when the strike hit her neighborhood, ABC News has reported.
Amid widespread hunger and looted aid, humanitarian efforts struggle to reach Gaza’s hospitals, while the conflict continues with no ceasefire in sight.
