Gunman opens fire at Connecticut mall, injures 5 people

Five people were shot at the Brass Mill Center mall in Waterbury, Connecticut, Tuesday, when an argument escalated into gunfire.

Authorities say this was not a random attack, and the gunman, described as a man in his 20s with a semi-automatic pistol, fled the scene.

Police later took a person of interest into custody.

Victims were taken to local hospitals, with no fatalities reported so far.

Shoppers sheltered in place during the shooting.

Waterbury police, along with state and federal agencies, are investigating, the New York Post has reported.

Governor Ned Lamont expressed condolences to the victims and community.
