Rep. Jerrold Nadler criticized President Trump and the Department of Homeland Security after federal agents handcuffed one of his aides inside his Manhattan office during a security check.
Agents accused staff of “harboring rioters” after protesters were invited into the office.
Nadler called the incident a reckless and intimidating abuse of power, warning it threatens everyone’s rights.
DHS said the check was prompted by safety concerns for federal employees
, the New York Post has reported.
Nadler condemned the Trump administration’s tactics as authoritarian and vowed to resist what he called a push toward fascism.
