Aid distribution centers in Gaza will shut down for a day on Wednesday as Israel declares surrounding roads “combat zones.”
The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a U.S. and Israeli-backed group replacing UN-led aid, cited organizational updates as the reason for closure.
This follows a deadly incident where 27 Palestinians were killed near a GHF site, the third such event in days.
Critics, including the UN, say GHF’s model endangers civilians by requiring long, risky journeys for aid, the BBC has reported.
The UN has called for an independent investigation, warning that over two million Gazans face starvation.
