Jonathan Joss, best known for voicing John Redcorn on King of the Hill, was shot and killed Sunday at age 55 in San Antonio, Texas.

Police found Joss near a roadway with multiple gunshot wounds and pronounced him dead at the scene.

His husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, confirmed the death and said Joss saved his life by pushing him out of the way during the shooting.

The suspect, Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, 58, a neighbor with whom Joss had an ongoing feud, was arrested and charged with murder, CBS News has reported.

Joss had recently recorded episodes for the upcoming King of the Hill revival set to air on Hulu in August.
