President Donald Trump said he spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin for over an hour on Wednesday, discussing Ukraine’s recent airstrike on Russian bombers and nuclear talks with Iran.
Trump said Putin vowed retaliation against Ukraine but did not indicate whether he urged restraint.
They also talked about preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, with Putin expressing willingness to assist in negotiations.
Trump noted that Iran is delaying its decision and warned time is running out, CNBC has reported.
Despite his campaign promise to quickly end the Russia-Ukraine war, peace remains elusive, and Trump’s stance on Putin has recently grown more critical.
