Trump blocks California rules for greener vehicles and gas-powered car ban

Former President Donald Trump signed a resolution blocking California’s plan to ban the sale of new gas-powered cars by 2035, reversing the state’s landmark climate policy.

California, along with 10 other Democratic-led states, immediately filed a lawsuit challenging the move.

Trump also overturned state rules on truck emissions and air pollution, calling California’s regulations “crazy” and favoring combustion engines over electric vehicles.

Critics, including Governor Gavin Newsom and environmental groups, accused Trump of prioritizing polluters over public health, The Guardian has reported.

The rollback is part of Trump’s broader agenda to revive fossil fuels and auto manufacturing.
