Two Minnesota lawmakers and their spouses were shot by a suspect impersonating a police officer, according to FOX 9.
Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband were killed, while Sen. John Hoffman and his wife were injured in separate overnight shootings in Brooklyn Park and Champlin.
A shelter-in-place alert was issued at 5:30 a.m. for a 3-mile radius around Edinburgh Golf Course.
The suspect is a white man with brown hair, wearing black body armor over a blue shirt and pants, and is considered armed and dangerous.
Authorities identified the suspect as 57-year-old Vance Boelter, and the FBI issued a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to his arrest and conviction.
Residents are urged not to approach him and to verify any law enforcement presence before opening their doors, Fox 9 has reported.
Multiple active crime scenes are being investigated, with Brooklyn Park Police leading the effort.
