A shooting during a large “No Kings” protest in Salt Lake City on Saturday night left one person critically injured and another wounded.
The incident occurred near 151 S. State Street as about 10,000 people marched peacefully, prompting panic and a swift response from police, who arrested two individuals and detained the suspected shooter.
Authorities are still investigating the motive and whether those involved were part of the protest, the Utah News Dispatch has reported.
City and state leaders condemned the violence, praised the police response, and emphasized the protest’s largely peaceful nature.
