Former Coast Guard officer charged with threatening to kill President Trump

A former Coast Guard lieutenant and sharpshooter, Peter Stinson, has been arrested for allegedly threatening to kill former President Donald Trump.

Federal court documents detail years of violent social media posts from Stinson, including support for a “contract hit” and praise for the 2024 assassination attempt on Trump.

Prosecutors say he also identified as a member of ANTIFA and made recent threats, prompting a judge to order his detention pending further hearings, CBS News has reported.

The case highlights a broader rise in threats against political figures, with authorities noting an increase in politically motivated violence and harassment.
