Police officer arrested over shooting of civilian during Kenya protest

A Kenyan police officer has been arrested after shooting an unarmed protester in the head during demonstrations over the death of blogger Albert Ojwang in police custody.

The incident, captured on video by a journalist, occurred amid violent clashes, where motorbike-riding “goons” attacked protesters while police looked on.

Ojwang was arrested for allegedly defaming a top police official and later died in custody; an autopsy suggests he was assaulted, the DW has reported.

President Ruto has acknowledged police involvement, and investigations continue as public outrage over police brutality intensifies.
