Seven California men charged in ‘largest jewellery heist’ in US history

Seven California men have been charged in the largest jewelry heist in U.S. history, involving the theft of $100 million in gold, gems, and luxury watches from a Brinks truck in 2022.

The suspects allegedly tracked the truck for 300 miles from a San Francisco-area jewelry show and stole 24 bags while it was parked at a rest stop in Lebec.

No weapons were used, and the robbery was discovered when a driver noticed a missing padlock, believed to have been sawed off, the BBC has reported.

Some stolen items have been recovered, but most remain missing, leaving affected elderly jewelers devastated.
